- To fill an object you must first select it using the Pick Tool. Selecting objects depends on whether or not they currently have a fill.

- If they're hollow, you have to click on the object's outline to select it. Filled objects are selected by clicking anywhere in the fill area.

- Solid fills are selected from the roll-up and applied to the selected object.

- Fountain Fills work much the same way. You have a choice of four types of fountain fills: linear... radial... conical and square.
